Petroleum Products Special Provisions Amendment Bill
Supreme Court determined that the Petroleum Products Special Provisions Amendment Bill is inconsistent as a whole with article 12 (1) of the Constitution. Mr Kanchana Wijesekara in a tweet said the Petroleum Products Special Provisions Amemdement bill will be amended to comply with the Supreme Court determination.

As of 2011, all Ceylon Tea is entitled to bear "Ozone Friendly Pure Ceylon Tea" since all most all Ceylon Tea is produced without the use of any ozone-depleting chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) including Methyl Bromide.

The chairman of Raigam Wayamba Salterns, Dr Ravi Liyanage, announced the commencement of building a large-scale oil extraction plant in Dambulla using raw materials such as Soya, Sweet Corn and Rice Bran.

Coal Tender Cancelled amid the threats of legal battles
Coal Tender Cancelled: The coal tender awarded on 26th August 2022 was cancelled by the Cabinet given the inability to perform the tender due to concerns on the impact on legal cases filed and issues related to payment guarantee.
